Ascendance
RWA - Studio McGuire

Ascendance is an 8-minute narrative re-imagined as a large framed moving image. At first glance it appears to be a still painting or photograph—but motion and directional sound, heard only when standing directly in front of it, draw the visitor into a poetic extraterrestrial journey: A lone astronaut, severed from the mothership, drifts through a cosmos of vivid flowers, fluttering butterflies, and poetic hallucinations, as oxygen slowly runs out.
Ascendance invites quiet reflection on the fragility and transience of life on earth and in space.

Full registration with sound. Format to be adapted for RWA.

Potential for entrance ceiling projection as photo opportunity and 'teaser', adapting the visual world of Ascendance without astronaut.
Ascendance was originally commissioned by Bristol Light Festival as a large scale holographic projection onto gauze set in St. Stephen's Church.
