The Dark Dolls House

We've been remaking our Dark Dolls House series for an upcoming exhibition, a collection of wall-hung wooden dioramas inspired by the shadowy world of film noir. Gangsters, femme fatales, pole dancers and other morally ambiguous characters, turning the traditional idea of a dolls house on its head.

Here are a few images and videos of the finished pieces, along with a glimpse into how we bring these dark little worlds to life.

A few weeks ago, while The One Show was filming another project in our studio, the team spotted the collection and described our work as "quite edgy". We'll happily take that ;)

Each piece is designed, built and animated by hand, creating tiny cinematic worlds. Over the years the series has found collectors around the world, including some people whose work we've long admired.
